Я получил изображение подушки, которое я получил из Интернета:

 response= urllib2.urlopen(<url to gif image>)
img = Image.open(cStringIO.StringIO(response.read()))
  

Я хочу использовать его с tesserocr, но он не будет работать с изображениями GIF.

Если я сохраню изображение в формате PNG img.save("tmp.png") и загружу его img = Image.open("tmp.png") , все будет работать.

Есть ли способ выполнить это преобразование без записи на диск?

Решение было очень простым:

 response= urllib2.urlopen(<url to gif image>)
img = Image.open(cStringIO.StringIO(response.read()))
img = img.convert("RGB")
  

Обратите внимание, что вам необходимо удалить информацию об альфа-канале, чтобы сделать изображение совместимым с tesserocr
