Проблема вызвана конкретной библиотекой под названием «react-native-device-info».
После включения этой библиотеки возникает ошибка в моем вопросе, и после исключения этой библиотеки все снова работает нормально.

@itinance4. спасибо! была еще одна удвоенная строка (code-push), ошибка осталась. теперь попробуем удалить «compile FileTree …»
5. ошибка остается. я обновил свой вопрос с помощью последнего build.gradle-файла
